More than 200 nominations were received for the 2019 Airdrie Business Awards.

For more than two decades, Airdrie businesses have been celebrated at an annual awards gala.

This is the second year the Airdrie Chamber of Commerce has hosted the event and this year they added a new honour, the Business Leader Innovation Award.

“We’ve added this award category to recognize businesses that demonstrate exceptional and transformative innovation and leadership in processes, products and services,” says Airdrie Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Marilyne Aalhus.

The finalists for the brand new Business Leader Innovation Award are:

  • Ambition Performing Arts
  • Healthy Meals Made Easy Inc.
  • Switchback Creative
  • Woodside Denture Centre

The finalists for Business of the Year are:

  • Abe’s Modern Diner
  • Airdrie Puppy Pals
  • Ambition Performing Arts Inc.
  • Elements Dance Co.
  • Healthy Meals Made Easy Inc.
  • Little Steps
  • Sorso Lounge, Espresso & Wine Bar

The Business of the Year Award recognizes a small business that demonstrates outstanding achievement in innovative practices, customer service, growth, and active participation in the community.

Air 106.1/Discover Airdrie's very own Ron Zuke has been named as a finalist for the Airdrie Business Leader Award, which goes to an individual whose business practices have a positive impact on the community as a whole. The other finalists in the category are Harpreet Niijar - Studio 150 Make up & Esthetics, Heather Crippen - CrossFit 403, Michelle Carre - The Carre Group of Redline Real Estate, Puneet Chowdhry - Airdrie Daycare Ltd., and Roland Polsfut - Techmation Electric & Controls Ltd.

The winners will be announced at the Airdrie Business Awards Gala at Bert Church Theatre on Thursday, October 24.
