With the 2024 partial solar eclipse now behind us, some are wondering when their next chance to see another celestial show will be.

The good news is that there are several eclipses in the near future that Airdronians can countdown to. The next closest eclipse is a lunar eclipse which will occur this fall. On September 17, there will be a partial lunar eclipse.

The fall lunar eclipse will be only slightly visible in the skies in our area, known as a penumbral eclipse. However, in less than a year, a full lunar eclipse will occur between March 13 and 14 2025.

As far as solar eclipses are concerned, Airdronians will need to be a little more patient. A total solar eclipse, much like today's is scheduled for August 12, 2026, though, Airdrie residents will not see the full eclipse.

But, in two decades, on August 22, 2044, residents will be treated to a total solar eclipse in the sky - and this time it will be fully visible to us. While two decades may seem like a small eternity, there are other celestial delights to take part in; including the Northern Lights (also known as Aurora Borealis), as well as annual meteor showers.

For the time being, Airdrie residents are sharing their memories of the 2024 partial eclipse with spectacular photos
