Cause of Rocky View County fire under investigation after multi-agency response
On Wednesday, Rocky View County Fire Services said the cause of Tuesday’s large grass fire is still under investigation. Related Stories: Rocky View County grass fire contained after multiple agency response In response to questions from DiscoverAirdrie, Fire Services noted the fire was located “in the area south of Big Hill Springs Road and east of Symons Valley Road.” Fire Services said assisting personnel and units came from the Balzac and Madden fire stations. Partner response came from the RCMP, Airdrie Fire Department, Calgary Fire Department and Crossfield Fire Department. “Rocky View County would also like to acknowledge and extend appreciation for the additional participation of the local farming community in assisting with the mitigation of this incident,” Fire Services said. At 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Rocky View County reported that the fire was contained and extinguished, with no structures damaged, and evacuated residents were allowed to return home. Crews remained on scene managing hot spots. Both east and west Rocky View County remain under a fire advisory. Earlier on Tuesday, the count had reported that three homes were evacuated as three structures were threatened by the blaze. During the response, different agencies cited varying locations: Rocky View County initially referenced Panorama Road, Calgary Fire noted Big Hill Springs Road and Symons Valley Road, and Airdrie Rural RCMP pointed to Range Road 20 and Big Hill Springs Road while managing traffic.
